The Indianapolis-based CPA and advisory firm BGBC Partners, LLP has promoted Richard Smith to Partner.
“It is a great pleasure and honor to have Richard join our Partner group and continue his contribution to the success of BGBC”, said Kyle Simmerman, Managing Partner. “Richard has exemplified all the characteristics of a Partner and most notably his commitment to exceptional client service, a fundamental principle of BGBC. He began making an impact when he joined us in 2010 and we look forward to his future contributions for many years to come.”
Smith has been with the firm since 2010, where he was a Staff Accountant, before being promoted to Senior Accountant, Manager and then Partner. He specializes in partnership and flow-through taxation, corporate and flow-through business structuring, mergers and acquisitions transactions, business and individual tax planning, and reviews filings and tax positions for various corporation and partnership tax returns. He serves various industries including manufacturing, distribution, transportation, medical, construction, real estate, retail, and various service-providing industries.
Prior to joining BGBC, Smith practiced governmental accounting for the state of Indiana in addition to being a small business owner for eight years. He also achieved the rank of Sergeant during his time in the United States Marine Corps. Smith attributes much of his success to his time in the Marine Corps, where he learned honor, courage, commitment, and how to excel in the face of adversity.
